How Death Rider was born

Death Rider T-shirt – “Origins” celebrates the brand and represents its birth with this beautiful illustration. What are the origins of Death Rider in 1957? Since I was a kid, I’ve always had a passion for motorcycles. As a teenager, I built my first motorcycle from parts I had on hand. Over the years, I travelled a lot on several routes until I felt the need for something bigger, for a challenge that could satisfy my thirst for adventure and put me to the test.

So I embarked on a trip to Africa, riding my motorcycle: from Morocco to Algeria. I crossed the Merzouga desert, covering a total of 3000 km with my Harley Sporster model, which was not prepared for this type of terrain. It was a journey that was anything but easy, and my travelling companions believed that I would stop and not be able to complete the route, thus interrupting the pre-established itinerary. It was a difficult few days, during which I faced dangerous moments.

The nickname

One night, during one of the encampments in the desert, I was talking to some of my fellow travellers. One of them, an American, gave me the nickname “Death Rider” because of the risks I was running during the trip with my Sporster. That night was like a baptism, from that moment on I was Death Rider for the whole group. These two words accompanied me along the way, they marked that incredible experience and I identified with them. When I came back I decided that I had to keep it somehow and create something. Today, Death Rider 1957 is a registered trademark, owned by me. In addition to my nickname, I added 1957, which is the year Harley Davidson first put the motorbike I owned, the Sporster, on the market.
